12 Days of Erimus: Merry Christmas Everyone

As we draw a close on 2020, I’d like to say a massive thank you to you all.

It has been an absolute stinker of a year for the entire world and everyone has suffered in some way from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Whether it be through losing someone, contracting the virus, losing jobs, having to close a business, missing friends and loved ones or simply being completely bored and fed up with the situation, we’ve all had to struggle through this time.

Fortunately, being able to chat shite about Middlesbrough Football Club has been a great escape for me this year. Working from home for the majority of the year has meant I’ve had bags of time to invest into something besides burning through Netflix and while we haven’t been able to actually go to games, this has become a comforting substitute. We all live and breathe Boro round here and having some way of keeping that spark going in THE dingy, dark cloud of 2020 has been a major help.

So thank you, for taking the time out of your day to read the bits and pieces that find their way onto this site. Thank you for sharing articles and discussing your opinions with us. Thank you for helping to spread the good word of ERIMUS, a place that tries to offer something different. It’s not polished or professional and there’s no long-term goal to achieve anything. Just quite like talking rubbish.

This is all very X Factor sob story but it has made a crap year slightly better. It’s not quite being down the pub with the lads or being in the South Stand in full flow yet it has helped a lot more than you might imagine.

Christmas isn’t a great time for a lot of people anyway but it might be especially rough this year. There’s going to be some links and contact numbers below for organisations that can offer a friendly ear and support over the holidays. It may seem like the fashionable thing to care about mental health but please, reach out if you need help. Even if you don’t need them, pass them onto a mate or better still, give that mate a call over Christmas.

If you’re able to, make the most of the time with your loved ones tomorrow. Get pissed, have a laugh and stuff yourself with scran. We’ve all earned it.

Hopefully this time next year we’ll be millionaires. To be honest, being back at football would do me.

Merry Christmas, everyone.
